For Sale in eBay on 9/1/2007 for
Described As:
Offered by Fantasy Junction in September 2007 as:
This car is a late production example built for the European market. It is not known exactly when this example was imported to the US, but Fantasy Junction is familiar with the history during the last few years, and sold the car to the current owner. Previous owners have shown the car and report winning a platinum award some years ago after the restoration work outlined below was finish.
Cosmetically, this car is well above the average GTC/4. The car has been repainted in what we believe to be the original color, and the finish has mirror-like sheen. There are just a handful of very minor use marks about the car, none of which detract from the overall appearance. There are no major flaws in the body or paintwork. The door shut is crisp and the door gaps are tight. The door jams are nicely detailed and the sill plates beautifully polished. All the window glass appears to be original, and is in generally very nice condition with no cracks or major pitting. All the badges and emblems are correct to original and in very good condition. The chrome and stainless trim has just very minor fogging from polishing, and no major weathering or deterioration. The car sits on brand new Borrani wire wheels with new Michelin XWX tires. The spare is also a brand new Borrani.
The interior is exceptional. Much of the upholstery- seats, door panels, and carpet- looks to have been restored, while the factory correct `mouse hair` dash material looks to be in outstanding original condition. All the switches and gauges are factory correct and are in beautiful condition. A later model in dash CD player has been tastefully mounted to the center console, with a 6-disc changer mounted in the trunk.
While perhaps a touch below national show standards, the engine bay is cosmetically clean and mechanically tidy. Still present is the often missing window washer bag. The underside has been recently detailed and is straight and sound, with no obvious evidence of rust or rust repairs.
The car has a sound, tight feel. It starts easily and has excellent oil pressure. The suspension is compliant and the brakes effective. Second gear is a common weak point in Ferraris of this era, and this car has very good syncros both when warm and cold. Correct model Ansa exhaust systems are still fitted, and this car resonates that wonderful V12 exhaust note we all know and love. All the equipment for the air conditioning system is in place and recently serviced, and the system blows cold.
Recent mechanical work done by Patrick Ottis and Ferrari of Beverly Hills includes a complete carburetor service and rebuild as necessary, and a complete A/C and heating system service which amounted to well over $3,000 in September of 2006. A recent compression test by Patrick Ottis produced extremely even readings between 170-180 lbs on all 12 cylinders. During this visit Mr. Ottis confirmed the car is a straight, rust free example with all systems functioning normally. The exact mileage is unknown, as this (European) example was fitted with kilometer odometer when new, and now shows in miles. We welcome interested parties to commission a pre-purchase inspection.
With the car comes all the jewelry the new owner could possibly hope for. This includes records back to 2005, the complete manual pack and tool suitcase, jack with bag, work shop and spare parts manuals, and spare Borrani wire wheel with new Michelin XWX tire. Also accompanying the car is a full set of 5 Cromadora one-piece wheels with Michelin tires, a second set of three-ear knock offs, a brand new lower radiator shield, an unused Ferrari car cover, and several magazines with articles relating to Ferrari 365 GTC/4s.
Many enthusiasts who have owned both 365 GTC/4s and 365 GTB/4 `Daytonas` prefer the drivability aspects of the C4, and tend to use them more. At just about half the cost of a comparable Daytona, the 365 GTC/4 is excellent value in the front-engined V12 Ferrari world, and are likely to continue to be a fantastic investment as they have proven to be in recent years. We believe this many very well be nicest 365 GTC/4 on the market today, and would be an appropriate fit for the collector looking for the best money can buy.
