Described As:
Few Ferraris tell a story quite like this one. Originally delivered in Milan in 1972, this Euro-spec 365 GTC/4 has crossed continents and decades — and in 2024, it was reborn as a stunning open-top Spyder by Newport Specialty Cars in Huntington Beach, California. The $109,000 conversion includes a bespoke removable hardtop and dedicated storage cart, followed by a full bare-metal repaint in classic Ferrari red. With only 54 miles since completion, this is essentially a freshly built car wearing 54 years of provenance. Under the hood lives Ferrari's legendary 4.4-liter V-12 — 340 horsepower, six Weber carbs, and an exhaust note widely regarded as the finest of any Enzo-era Ferrari. Pair that with ZF power steering, power brakes, working A/C, and a silky front-mounted 5-speed, and you have a Grand Tourer that's as effortless to drive as it is spectacular to hear. As a pre-1975 Euro model, it's smog-exempt in California and free of the power-robbing US emissions equipment found on American-spec cars. No cam belts. No smog pump. Just pure, unfiltered Ferrari
For Sale in Ferraris Online on 4/2/2026 for $294,950.00
Described As:
We are pleased to offer 1972 Euro model Ferrari 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745, now a 365 GTC/4 Spyder conversion with both the spyder conversion and a unique one-off lift-off hardtop done by Newport Specialty Cars in Huntington Beach, California. Today 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 offers top-down driving in a great-looking; great-running; great-driving; great sounding and well-documented 365 GTC/4 that would be an instant stand-out at your local Cars & Coffee meet-up or on a weekend canyon run. Newport Specialty Cars in Huntington Beach are experts in Spyder conversions and they have done several hundred spyder and cabriolet conversions on Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Mercedes and more. Go to www.NewportConvertible.com for their website. In 2024 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 was shipped to Newport Specialty Cars for both a spyder conversion priced at $79,500.00 and the building of a unique hardtop, priced at another $29,500.00 for a total of $109,000.00 USD! The drop-top is easy to use, going both up and down is a one-man operation, while removing or fitting the hardtop is a two man operation.
365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 is a Euro model, new to Crepaldi, the Ferrari dealer for Milan in Dec., 1971, before going to its first owner, Mr. Alberto Tollentino, a resident in Milan, in Jan.,1972 then coming to the US in 1976. Between 1976 and today 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 moved between owner in California, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania and North Carolina before going to the current owner in Texas. Introduced at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, the GTC/4 was considered a further evolution of both the 365 GTC and the famed 365 GTB/4 Daytona, built with a slightly longer cabin that offered room for two occasional rear passengers, although most owners simply flipped the rear seat backs down to gain additional luggage space. The cleanly styled 365 GTC/4 was one of the first Ferraris to benefit from Pininfarina’s then new wind tunnel. Its tubular steel tubing chassis, which was lengthened 100 millimeters (about 4 inches) over the 365 GTB/4 Daytona, was clothed in completely new steel body panels by Pininfarina, which offered a sleek and then-modern look. Additionally the Pininfarina built bodywork doesn’t suffer the rust problems found on the Scaglietti built 365 GTB/4, 246 GT and 246 GTS. The nose featured a new oval grille within a black bumper ring, and the retractable quadruple headlamps rose by electrical command. Two air intakes were built into the hood to aid in cooling the hand-built and assembled 340-horsepower, 4.4-liter V-12 engine. Ferrari engineers redesigned the 365 GTC/4 engine to fit below the C/4’s lower bonnet line with new cylinder heads, mounted with six side-draft Weber 38 DCOE 50 carbs fitted between the dual camshaft banks.
While the 365 GTC/4 has twenty less horsepower than it’s sister car, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona, the 365 GTC/4 has more torque, making for great mid-range power around town. Thanks to the ZF power-assisted steering, powerful brakes, a functional air-conditioning system and the hydro-pneumatic self-leveling device on the rear suspension, the GTC/4 offered much improved drivability over the Daytona. The front mounted five-speed, fully synchronized transmission is much lighter and easier to shift than the Daytona’s rear transaxle. When tested by Road & Track in their July, 1972 issue, the 4.4-liter 365 GTC/4 was capable of a 15.7-second standing quarter-mile at 91 mph and the top speed could comfortably approach 160 mph. Road & Track magazine summed up the 365 GTC/4 by stating “There’s just the right amount of purr from the four tailpipes, and when working hard in its upper rev range the engine sings the familiar and beautiful V-12 song”. Indeed, the 365 GTC/4 has long been known to have the best exhaust sound, through the entire RPM range, of any of the Enzo-era street model Ferraris.
365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 was purchased by the current owner on 29 Jan., 2024 with 42,546 miles. The Spyder conversion was started by Newport Specialty cars on 12 March, 2024 and the conversion with both the hardtop and the wheel-around cart for the hardtop was completed on 31 July, 2024 at a cost of $109,000. 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 was next repainted in Ferrari red, which was completed on late 2024. Today 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 has only 42,660 miles and so had gone only 54 miles since the completion of the spyder conversion, hardtop fabrication and paintwork. The chassis and all under-panels are unusually clean and well detailed underneath.
Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Spyder s/n 14745 is gorgeous with the top down, elegant with the top up and striking with the hardtop in place! She sits on an excellent set of 7 1/2? x 15? Borrani 4075 wheels with three-eared knockoffs and wears a set of Pirelli Cinturato HS 215/70 R15 tires with a correct 7 1/2? x 15? Borrani 4075 spare wheel and tire. 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 is a Euro model and so doesn’t suffer through the power killing US smog pump, diverter valve, air injection tubing and air mixture tubes on the US models! Even better, because she is pre-1975 production Ferrari, 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 is smog exempt in California and every other state.
With superb looks and the family resemblance to the legendary Daytona, the 365 GTC/4 offers a gorgeous profile, exceptional comfort and superb performance!! With more cabin space due to its elongated chassis, the 365 GTC/4 can accommodate the (very) occasional rear seat passenger(s) and their luggage and whisk them all away in quintessential Italian style. Impressively outfitted with ZF power steering, power brakes, and sumptuous Italian leather, the 365 GTC/4 was purpose-built to carry people across any continent at speed and in total comfort. The body and paint show as new since there is only 54 miles since the extensive (and expensive) work was done. The tan leather, the black dash and light carpets are all in very good condition. As long term Ferrari enthusiasts know the 365 GTC/4 has the best exhaust sound of any of the Enzo-era Ferraris and so has a wonderful exhaust shriek through the entire RPM range. As an Enzo-era Ferrari the C/4 doesn’t have the dreaded cam-belts of the Fiat-era Ferraris and so an annual service requires only a fluid change and perhaps a new set of spark plugs! Today 365 GTC/4 s/n 14745 has seen only 42,600 miles of motoring over the last fifty-four years so a mere 789 miles of driving per year. An excellent opportunity to own a Gentleman’s drop-top, high speed,V-12 Grand Touring Ferrari, priced right at $295,950 or best offer.
